Malika & Fredrik's wedding

Plan for guests coming to Oslo

Welcome to Oslo! Our wedding will take place on Saturday, August 22, and we recommend arriving around Wednesday, August 19, so you have time to rest and get comfortable in the city before the celebration.

Below you’ll find a rough outline of what we’re planning for the week. It’s not a strict schedule, just ideas and suggestions for how we might spend time together before and after the wedding.

We know many of you will be traveling from far away, and it might be tricky to keep everyone together all the time, so please feel free to explore Oslo on your own if there’s something specific you’d love to see or do.
The plan is simply here to give you an overview and help everyone enjoy the city at their own pace.

Wednesday, August 19 — Arrival & First Impressions • Arrival in Oslo

• Arrival in Oslo ✈️

Hotel check-in (or drop off your luggage at reception if you arrive before check-in time)

Evening: relaxed walk to Aker Brygge, along the harbour promenade towards Akershus Fortress, to enjoy fjord views and unwind after the flight

Thursday, August 20 — Classic Oslo Sights

We’ll explore the city together and see the must-visit places:

  • Karl Johans gate (shopping street)
  • The Royal Palace (outside)
  • The Oslo Opera House
  • Holmenkollen, we’ll take the metro together so everyone gets familiar with the line (you’ll use the same one on the wedding day!)
  • Kollensvevet zip-line, for those seeking a thrill.
  • Dinner at Fredrik’s parents house (close family)

Friday, August 21 — Fjord Day & Easy Vibes

Morning: optional run with Fredrik 🏃‍♂️ — a light jog to feel the local vibe

Late morning / early afternoon:

  • Ferry ride between the small islands in the Oslofjord ⛴️
  • BBQ at one of the islands

Afternoon: relaxed return to the city and free time

Evening: slow and easy — light dinner, maybe a short walk, or an early night before the big day 💛

Saturday, August 22 — Wedding Day

The wedding celebration begins in the afternoon

Guests staying overnight at the hotel by the wedding venue can arrive a bit earlier and leave their bags at reception before check-in

After the celebration, we’ll organize a bus returning to Oslo, stopping at several central locations

Get ready for a beautiful evening together!

Sunday, August 23 — Lazy Lake Day

Afternoon: Floating sauna experience on the Oslofjord 🧖‍♀️
Relax, chat, and enjoy the real Norwegian way to unwind — with a swim in the fjord for the brave ones!

The rest of the day: calm and cozy — no plans, just good vibes and fresh air

Monday, August 24 — Coffee, Parks & Games

Morning: Walk around Frogner & Vigelandsparken — Oslo’s most beautiful park with famous sculptures and green lawns

Midday: Walk along the Akerselva River — small waterfalls, bridges, and hip cafés — Oslo’s peaceful, cozy side (and our version of Terrenkur from Almaty!)

Optional places for those who want more sightseeing:

  • Ekeberg Park — sculptures + panoramic views
  • Bygdøy Peninsula — beaches & museums

Evening: Minigolf or Shuffleboard night (covered by us) 🎉 — a fun and casual evening to wrap up an unforgettable week together
